8-10 years
Age doesn’t matter.
Generally you can see this around year 3-4 on the low end of experience, 5-6 on the slower end. Though, some people are exceptional individual contributors and being an Account Supervisor is right-sized for some people not really meant to lead a product or team.
That VP was the anomaly, not the rule my friend. No matter how good someone is, years experience is hard to beat. It’s a big jump from AS to AD.
8 years of experience

8-10 is about right for a typical creative agency trajectory.
1-2 to get to AE from entry level
2-3 to get to AS from AE
3-4 to get to AD from AS
People can do it faster if they’re exceptional or in the right circumstance.
So around age 30 is an ambitious but realistic goal if you started in the business right out of college
I think it takes about 4-5 years of experience personally, at least that's what I've seen
