I’ve worked at AT&T as a sales consultant for 6 years and 8 months where we prospect, uncover, and close on leads. I’ve used Salesforce for the past 4 years during my tenure. I’ve done B2B sales where I’ve received awards for it for 2 years consecutively. Loads of troubleshooting, uncovering needs through consultative styled selling, and tech app subscriptions.
I was wondering if I have the necessary skills to transition into a tech sales role. If so, what would be the best role/fit for me?Amazon Salesforce Google @

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

I don’t think many people are going to refer strangers - they’re a big deal and people don’t refer people lightly
EY1 and manager 1, manager at ATK does translate to bcg pl. we have made offers to people at booz/ atk in the past at lateral levels. Maybe start at pl 1 instead of pl2, even principal levels. But yes PL utilizations are low, especially on the west coast
Manager at atk doesn’t necessarily translate to manager at bcg
ATK Principal —> BCG EM
He/she’s chiming in that ATK is “not as good” as BCG. Y’all do the same work imo
BCG1 would love a referral for consultant role. Have 1.5 years in life science strategy firm, advanced degree. Thinking of applying to west coast offices.
@BCG1 thanks for that insight. Let’s exchange emails outside FB platform. Perhaps there is more “room” in the industries/ functional areas I have experience in. Is there a burner email I can reach you on? If not happy to create one and share. Lmk
@BCG 2 - agree and I would expect the same from anyone who is looking to refer. Perhaps we can connect outside FB, build some rapport and then see if a referral makes sense. Let me know if you agree and I can share a burner.
What do you mean, EY1?
Other issue. Happy to refer but we’re a bit “fat” at the PL level these days. Better than average retention. We’re still growing rapidly and are short on associates and consultants but have a number of PLs sitting on beach though that may be starting to tighten soon as well
Bcg2 i have a recruiter who asked me to send over the cv for consideration( after I asked her if she handles recruiting in the specific area). How strong are my chances in comparison to being referred?
