Say it upfront, otherwise it's not likely to happen. Usually the budget they have assigned for a new hire is title capped. It's better to know where that cap is early on. You don't want to drag on interviewing for 3 months only to realize you're 30k apart on salary expectations.
I would be up front with them now. Let them know you feel you’re looking for a Sr AD role and if you took this job, when would you likely advance to that position? Then, have a talk with your boss and ask when you will be promoted to Sr AD. Compare the two, but don’t let them know of each other or you can be out or a job. Then make a decision.
Wait for their offer before I counter with a senior role?
