Been consulting for 5 years and still don't get the PTO-to-utilization thing. That and I lose 10-15 days of PTO a year!

Anyone ever considered contractor gig in Meta/Facebook or any other big players in tech? I'm full-time in a smaller company and it's pretty stable. Wondering if the move could be worthwhile. Mostly want to explore other areas. Other things to consider: planning for babies in the next 3-5 years; maternity leave in current position is basically what's legally required.

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

I impulsively spent $400 on concert tickets before I left my last job. Now I’m entering my third month at a new job and I’m worried it’s too early to take off to go. At the very least I would have to sign off an hour or two early to be able to make it on time. But I feel awkward asking because generally I wouldn’t take off this early. For context, I have unlimited PTO.

Hello, I am looking to make a career change that starts at a minimum 75K salary. The economy is tough right now and I can no longer afford to stay in my current role. I have a bachelors degree in Sociology with experience in managed care, utilization management, & clinical admin.. How does one tell their boss (owner of the company) that you are burnt out? The sheer volume of work is exhausting and I haven’t taken a true vacation as we are a small company so if something urgent comes to my email I feel like I must respond. I was given an additional title and more responsibilities last year as well but only a 3% raise for it.
