Unless you have significant known medical issues, the high deductible is always the way to go. Why pay high premiums when you could instead contribute to an HSA and invest that money if not used year over year? Also, in a worst case scenario when considering premiums and deductibles, the max out of pocket is nearly identical between the plans. It’s a no brainer. I max out my HSA contribution ever year and see it as another source of income for retirement.
Wrong answer! I used to think that way too, but the HDHP doesn’t cover anything even if you are a heathy individual. I’ve been in a HDHP for 3 years now and I nearly depleted my HSA account. You are much better off getting a better plan with higher premiums and more coverage.
Will be joining in a few weeks. I’ve worked for Deloitte and another big company before and have never seen that lol I figured it was standard that any plan that isn’t a high deductible plan had copays for doctor’s/specialist’s/therapist/etc visits. Maybe I’m just naive lol
Yeah this was my experience. Usually there is a negotiated discount but you still end up with most of the bill.
Yes - did you just join EY? Most of the companies follow this format now.
