Sadly I have heard that more than once.
Use your GI Bill to get a degree/graduate degree/certificates.
No one is going to hire you just because you’re a Veteran. You need professional military education to be competent and get promoted, same thing applies in the Civilian sector

Remember, you're no longer in the military when speaking, especially in interviews. Many positions throughout the years I have seen good people get turned away because of terminology and references to war stories.
Don't get graphic and put the uniform away. Rely on the fact that you're well trained, reliable, and willing, don't throw PTSD out there ... it's not what anyone wants to hear in an interview, That info is for health related questions once you're hired. companies want vets because most are hard workers with good work ethics, but they don't want killers with PTSD and possible health issues ,
You're a vet, honorable discharge, a leader, and unafraid of hard work.
You can take order's and give them, lean on the team player role, and you will find its well accepted and sought after.
