Free or paid?

Deloitte debriefs are free that you can sign up for.

I've only tried a couple of subscription based ones (paid by my employer) - Becker and Encoursa. I liked Becker better, but I used Becker for CPA prep. Encoursa is cheaper and does the job.

Self-led course with exams that allow you to get large amounts of CPE credits at a time. That means you can go at your own pace.

It is so much easier to get a 16 hour chunk when you are coming up to a deadline than to piece together multiple 1hr webcasts from all the B4 and regional firms.

Business math on LinkedIn learning by the Stice brothers. Pretty much anything by them, but business math is special. Which one of these fractions is equal to 20%…….an actual question…..oops, I just tipped you off to learn fractions!

I think the best could be mycpe … only about $199 for all your CPE needs.

Also, u only need 24 if u keep to one topic (e.g., tax)

like

That very much depends on your state requirements - not true in Texas, for example.

Big 4 have free high quality CPE. If you are vigilant, you should be able to reach 40. Based on my experience, EY and KPMG have more CPE sessions than DT and PW. RSM, BDO and GT also have session which I listen but the quantity is less than B4.

Free - cpa academy

Aside from B4, Workiva, BlackLine, Protiviti, etc. also offer free CPE. If you get to attend conferences, there are also opportunities through PLI, ERP conferences (i.e. SAP), AICPA, and all those mentioned above. Lots of resources for paid CPE but plenty of opps for free CPE if you stay on top of it and receive some of the newsletters for upcoming webcasts.

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
