Woman (and mom) here and think it is acceptable given the disruptions of daily life present in calls all the time now. Maybe “unprofessional” but so is your kid running around in the background interrupting you and I don’t think people would be so quick to say turn the camera off. I’ve done a few calls on video with my toddler sitting in my lap and would do the same if I were breastfeeding right now.
As a woman, I think it’s unprofessional with the camera on—just as I would find it unprofessional if a colleague were eating on camera during a call. If you need to feed your child or eat during a call, turn the damn camera off.
Female here, but that’s a big no. Would a woman seriously sit in the middle of an in-person meeting in a conference room and breastfeed their baby? It’s unprofessional. Just turn the camera off
Exactly just turn the camera off. If anyone asks she could tell them she was breast feeding.
Super weird flex
As a mom unless you have the newer pumps where you can hide them in your clothes I say no.
Well you wrapped up there call quickly. Maybe that's the win here for her.
Wait you’re a breast feeding male? That would be hard to look away from.
I have a idea let's pretend we are at work. Lets fo what we would do at work.Turn the camera off, give the toddler a puzzle or something to play with or keep them busy while your in the meeting. If you are focusing on bf and babies you are not focusing in the meeting.
So what you’re saying is, it I want to bring a rambling meeting to a quick and efficient close, all I need to do is start breastfeeding?
That’s....a lot for a conference call. I’d hold off on that camera broadcast.
I’ve totally BF my kid during meetings...just turn the camera off though. Not sure how I feel about this one. It’s totally natural and normal but I don’t see why you’d keep your camera on risk showing your teammates your nip.
Deloitte’s Inclusive^(TM) culture would be so down for this
Not appropriate n work situation- I don’t need to see my colleague breastfeed. Fine to be on zoom, no video!
Breastfeeding means feeding from the breast. Was she nursing or pumping?
What’s wrong? Was she off topic or say something stupid? People need to love and as long as she’s carrying her weight like the rest of the team I see nothing wrong. We have men and women on calls nursing babies to sleep as well. Life, uh, finds a way. I’d get over it.
Her body her choice.

Can’t you just turn the video off?
Yayyy!! Good for her.. breastfeeding should be normalized. If she was feeding a 3 year old, you wouldn’t have had the same reaction, I don’t think. Feeding children is just feeding. We shouldn’t overthink it.
Maybe there should be some time spent deciphering this etiquette for the new normal.

Leaning towards nay but I’d also say if you’re of working age it’s probably time to week yourself off.
If the woman was using a cover over the baby. Not a problem for me. But if the breast was out with nipple in sight, probably not cool.
Rising Star
as long as the baby is fed 🤷♂️
I wonder if the females in the video call have a different view
Did she use a cover or not? Did you see nipple? Otherwise, its not a big deal. I am pro breastfeeding and normalizing it. If the
Company requires the camera, I would have done it with a cover. If company doesnt require camera, I would have turned video off.
Breastfeeding is not sexual or indecent. It is an act to feed your child. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding until the child is 1. In the first 8-10 weeks, a mother may be feeding the baby every 2-3 hours. What biological function can a men normalize? Please make a suggestion.
Lots of men already think its appropriate or normal to scratch or adjust their genitals in a public or professional setting. I would love to hear from men who even thought twice about doing this in a professional setting or took the time to turn off their zoom camera to scratch their balls.
