Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

Who knows what the motivations of a recruiter are for giving you the "advice" they do. What else is the recruiter telling you? Are they telling you that you should stay in audit?
FA jobs are going to involve more things like regression analysis, ratio analysis, cash flow projections, etc. It's all very learnable. Plus, you are not likely to be requested to build these from scratch; rather, you need to have a base level competency to understand and learn those already being used. If you have the competency to get an accounting degree/150 hours, then you have the competency to learn the skills required for an FA. Some of your accounting knowledge (but none of your auditing experience--there's a difference!) will be helpful, but you'll probably have to pick up some skills.
This recruiter was pretty straight forward in telling me the hiring managers feedback and mentioned the interviewer couldn’t answer certain financial modeling questions. I’ve been studying financial modeling courses like Kenji Explains (YouTube- FA at Goldman Sachs/Tesla) and a Simple Model.com
However it seems like it was for more of senior FA role. Also, it’s a F100. I agree with you all these skills are learnable, even stuff like SQL and Tableau/ you could hire a coach/tutor or self learn in less than a month. I’m just getting intimidated since I’m trying to break out of the audit glass ceiling!
