MLS is typed and written by the listing agent. Humans can make mistakes.
Garbage in, garbage out.
They absolutely can be incorrect. I don’t think that counts as new construction, but a renovation.
Thanks M1. I did some more digging: so part of the house is newly built (extra rooms added) and the square foot of the house is now almost double to what it was earlier. Just that the guider hasn’t uprooted all the things - kept what made sense to keep.
I guess from that perspective an agent can list it as a “New Construction”? Also, any downside of this when one resell the house in future?
That definitely isn’t new construction but, the association that the agent is a part of may require it to be listed as new construction if a certain percentage of the home is new and it has never been lived in/purchased.
What would be the downside of reselling the home? Does it have a choppy, dysfunctional floorplan?

Chances are the Stone used in any foundation is millions of years old.
Also this doesn’t sound like a “mistake,” more like “misrepresentation.”
