I started as a BDR at Ameritrade(TC $80k salary $55k bonus the rest) the 7/66 moved to a FC branch role (TC $200k $65k salary) was making a lot on their branch comp plan (basically 4bps per $ you brought into the firm plus other comp structure like referrals to advisors on their network) then I moved to an RIA spent a few months as a senior associate (TC $100k salary $65k) to learn the business and how they did things now I have clients of my own. Salary comp has not changed much over the years but the variable and % share of revenue has - I get 10% on net new revenue and a % share in the team revenue based on the size of my book. I have about $750k in revenue for my clients salary is $75k and the revenue share is like 5% so TC around $120k
I started at Morgan as an FA @ $55k salary. We didn’t get paid out on our grid until after yr3 of our program. We had to hit Tr12, AUM, and NNR goals to be eligible for promos and incentives and to stay employed 😂. I hopped on a team, got out of the program and shared in the teams production at that point. Got our because lead advisor wasn’t actively pursuing new clients and my partner and I had little time to prospect outside of handling the current book. Ceiling was limited, got out of the biz. Good luck on the phones!!
Morgan Stanley (at that time it was Morgan Stanley Smith Barney)
