You in federal?
Can't go wrong with Java/Python/C++; learn tools like API Management/Integration tools like Mulesoft, Apigee, informatica.
You get a project or two under your belt and you can go out into the world and make more than what you're making at Big D..
Source: came from industry thinking I'd do something different but ended up doing the same for less pay/more headaches
Neither
Some industry value PMP, but you really have to look inside. Also isn't CSM some Agile thing? You have to consider whether your target industry does Agile, otherwise it's worthless.
Get platform certified or learn to code
Both are pretty useless unless you are federal
Tech tends to like PMP. I did the study and classes. Never took the rest. Waste of time imo.
Either will make you the greatest PMO ever - isn't that cool?
Top Tier MBA
PMP is more versatile, reputable, and harder to obtain. Headhunters also love a muthafuckin’ PiMP
Not in federal. Looking for certifications since working on SF projects. Which is more attractive from an industry perspective, nothing related to project/client.
PMP... I have both.
Thanks!!
Deloitte Digital 1 : what do you recommend as a first language (apart from sql since that's not really coding)?
@PwC 2 : hesitating between Python and Java...
Python is easier to pick if you're brand new; I'm a Java guy and while I wasn't interested in Python, it wasn't hard to learn. Try out hackerrank and leetcode, they have great tutorials and challenges for both languages.
People who think PMP and CSM are equivalent and both useless don't work on agile implementations. CSM is essential for agile dev work in commerical. PMP is dumb though unless you're in federal.
P2 is giving you bad advice on languages D1. Almost nobody uses C or C++ anymore, as compared to C#, which is much more structured and easier to use. Java is still fine but I personally would recommend C# over it. Python is a terrible language to start with- it's so unstructured and poorly documented that you'll have a hard time developing good coding practices on your own with it. But regardless, if you haven't already taken some basic online courses in data structures at least, you should do that first because you need to know that stuff before you get too worried about any specific language.
Top tier MBA will get you $35k+ bump, accelerate your career, and is a built in sabbatical. No certification can match thst
