Hey OP. I’m a year sober and got sober while working at Deloitte. Came close to going to rehab but didn’t. Are you Federal or commercial? I ask because I am absolutely not in any way discouraging you from getting treatment, but you may have a problem with a government clearance if you do have rehab on your record. For commercial, that doesn’t really matter. Legally, I think they hold your job for a year while you get treatment. Look into specifics with HR and if you ever want to talk, feel free to message me. It can be done . One year strong and I know you can do this too.
He's right. I had an opiod addiction and I explained to my doctor I didn't want to lose my clearance. I did an outpatient program. Took longer and it was a lot harder, but I'm opiod free for 7 months.
The first step in solving a problem is admitting there is one. Good job brotha. Call HR
Take care of yourself, suggest calling your hr benefits
Voluntary admission = options
Involuntary = the boot
Take care of yourself and be proud of your admission to yourself.
First step is admitting your powerless. Good for you! I always am welcome on the team as I'm always the designated driver! In all sincerity though, I went to rehab twice before going into consulting. I'm now a member of AA. Meetinhs are in every town in the country. I tell my team I'm taking classes and need to study. I haven't outed myself to anyone tho, as I think there is a stigma attached to it. However, if you have an EAP, I would recommend starting there. They can give you the best advice. In my previous companies that I went to rehab, I just said I was having health problems and got a doctor to write me out on STD. My companies didn't need to know why. I just didn't want anything on my record. Didn't want it to come back one day. Like I said, some people are pretty judgemental and don't see it as a disease. They see it as a lack of will power. If you feel you need to get out of everyday life, rehab is a good place to dry out and figure out what is best for you. Good luck to you! You can do it!!
Feb 24th will be my one year sober anniversary. Part of me wishes I had gone to treatment, but I’m just happy I found AA when I did. It’s so much more than not drinking and I highly recommend checking it out. I took a six month leave of absence unrelated to drinking but it had the additional benefit of allowing me to make AA meetings all the time. For the first time in my life I feel like I’m actually living it, am in control, have hope, and feel truly useful. I have a sponsor and there’s a guy that I’m sponsoring. It feels good to not just be hungover all the time or waiting for the next opportunity to drink. Please DM one of us

Is there a sober bowl?

I’m in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) for substance abuse. It’s covered by health insurance and is somewhat flexible compared to rehab. I’ve been going for 7 months and I have been able to cut back on dangerous drinking binges. I hope you are able to find the support you need.
IBM 1: DBT is amazing, isn’t it? It got me through a divorce and death of my father all around the same time, plus a lot of other stuff I wouldn’t have wanted to handle alone or crush loved ones with the weight of it
I will add that there are some new treatment options that helped me get sober (3 years now) and I didn't have to take time off. Insurance paid 100%, which was great because it's about $1200 a dose... It's a monthly shot you get for 2 years that suppresses the brain chemistry which causes cravings and also suppresses the "buzz" so you de-couple the behavior from the reward. It's called Vivitrol; that plus therapy in the evenings sorted me out.
I completely agree - good on you for recognizing the issue and being ready to make changes. It's not easy but it is so utterly worth it!
Vicitrol is the way to go. Along with the support component. That is what I used and found it to be a miricle. Big thing to know is you should not detox yourself without talking to a doctor. If your too far addicted, you could die from detox. Please talk to your doctor before stopping cold turkey.
Really good of you to acknowledge this. Proactively getting help will be great. No shame. Everyone had struggles and you’re acknowledging and dealing w yours
I don’t know much about alcoholism, but wouldn’t AA be a logical step before going straight to rehab? Rehab is probably expensive
This reminds me of when idiots keep asking me why I didn’t sue the MTA when I fell a couple months back and hurt my knee. I am blessed to say that our insurance plus my built-in HRA covered 💯 of anything I could have possibly owed. Plus I don’t have time or money to waste on a case that lacked much merit
Yes it qualifies. Get help. You deserve it
