I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY
Is it a good time to try for switch?

Yes to both questions. Senior 3's get promoted to manager .
SC3 'MAY' get promoted to Manager... now a days the norm is SC4... I am lateral hire SC3 last year and I will not be made manager this year!!
May. Too late for this year.
LOLz... I just got rolled of from a project where my colleague was SC6... not his fault. He got screwed twice for changing his practices.
Yes, if you join SC3 in April, most probably, you will be SC4 in August 2018 and Manager in August 2019. (All this is Advisory - PI related. I am not sure about other practices. Also I have 5* rating on all projects this year so that should answer your performance doubt.)
Similar to SC3. Depending on your rating. I will be SC4 this year if I don't get promoted. I will be able to tell you exactly by then.
I don't mind being Senior for a good amount of time if they pay me 140K.
When are the promotion decisions typically made?
@SC1 - so there is such a thing as SC4? Recruiter told me SC 3 is the highest.
Let me clarify. On paper you'll still be SC3, but from salary ladder point of view, you get +1'ed per year.
That's depressing. If i'm joining April, I guess I can't expect promotion for the next 2 years. I don't think I should move.
How was the salary increment when you made "SC 4"?
S4 here..Got a rating that was above 3 as s3..Got a hike less than 10%
Just out of curiosity in what salary range do they place an S4 in? They offered me 125. Managers in my practice make that much. At that point, doesn't it just make sense for them to promote you if they are paying you as much as a manager?
op - what office and practice?? They don't want to promote you to manager because of mentor-mentee culture and may feel that you need to understand the practice more
Cyber, Seattle
For my benefit, can you please describe the mentor-mentee culture? Does it get too political?
125 is good but not the peak for S4. I've heard of seniors making 140+
My apologies. I meam counselor-counselee culture.
Ok I think that's the culture across all of Big 4.
ey1, yes Seniors do make that. I am SC3 and I am at 110k being lateral hire from industry.
