Currently an A2 and offered a 50% raise to join RSM as S1. Am slightly concerned on the adjustment from big 4 to mid tier, but everyone I’ve met at RSM has been great and welcoming. Likely will be staffed on industries I enjoy. Any other factors to consider in why to not accept the offer? Don’t want to make a mistake just because of the pay increase.

50%??? I know you're very likely underpaid but still, 50% is 50%. I would take it. You can always boomerang back if you don't like it or feel like you aren't getting the exit ops you want. And if you boomerang back, you'll get another raise at that point.

50% in audit? Are you transferring locations too ? That’s unheard of money

Do it

50% is insane, in my area b4 A1 starts at 60k, say you didn’t get a raise as A2, 50%would be 90k and that’s even higher than s3…

likesmarthelpful

Yeah I’m an S2 and 90k is what I’d expect to make as a second year manager in my market.

Think it’s because I didn’t get a raise this year. Yeah 50%.

like

Going to reinforce again that I made the switch from a big four and my raise % was even higher than your 50%. Some days it is so similar to my old company that it’s painful. It’s like nothing changed, but then I remember how much more I’m making and it’s fine.

I’m in tax and in regards to technology, they’re updating a lot of softwares. Absolutely no learning curve for me because I already used the software.

There are good leaders and there are bad leaders so that’s the same as my senior managers and partners at my old firm. I do find my staff and seniors to be more hardworking at RSM than at my prior firm.

You truly will be fine. If you leave on good terms, you can always go back as well.

like

I hear a lot of good things about RSM. We have lost a lot of good people to RSM. But you won’t have access to the same technology that Pwc has.

like

Yeah but I’m not doing state K1s by hand, not a chance.

No brainer, go. Don’t look back. If you really want, you can always come back. Leverage your new salary for an even bigger one when you return.

like

That big of a raise actually makes me a little concerned.

like

You should take it. Don’t burn bridges when you go, but definitely take it.

like

I did a similar path. RSM offered me a 25% bump.

You’re a free agent. Take the money and run.

like

If you don’t take it please put me in touch with the recruiter.

like

Thanks all. Likely am accepting. I’ll miss PwC but to many of your points, it’s difficult to say no to an offer and opportunity like this.

like

Do it. I did it and had an even higher % increase. I was very underpaid at Deloitte and it didn’t help that I made manager last year so I got a 3% promotion raise during COVID.

50% is nuts. OP, would you mind sharing current salary and offer?

I would be concerned...what mess are you walking into!???

Hi Fishes

I need help to decide
I have got 2 offers
1. Tigerhall - 45LPA
2. Zupee - 42LPA
Which one I should choose?
In Tigerhall, I will get a lot of free time as the work is same as what I have done so far in my career therefore, I can focus on more things now.
In Zupee, I will get to learn new skill which might be good for my career.
Also, comparatively in hand salary of Tigerhall is higher than Zupee (it will less tax deduction as it's a Singapore based company)
Please suggest

I am a clinical research coordinator working in Austin, Texas. I have my Masters in Cell & Molecular Biology and have a year of laboratory research experience.

I’ve been in my position for 5 months now. I make $27 hourly which amounts to about $51,000 yearly. Am I being under paid? Are all coordinator positions hourly? As a laboratory researcher I was salary :(

How do I go about asking for a raise or should I explore other companies or medical schools that have clinical research?

Moving to Houston and am looking in the Garden Oaks and Heights areas but I can’t get over the the new million dollar homes next to the $800k houses built in 1980’s. Does anyone live in an area like this? Is there a name for this? Other than a gentrified area? What are some things to consider if buying in an area like this? Are neighbors ok knowing that they’ll eventually be bought out or get to a point they can’t afford the property taxes? TIA for any insights!
