I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? Have you looked at community colleges? Most offer Associate degrees in Nursing, some even offer Bachelor's degrees in Nursing. Programs are usually a fraction of the cost of university.
Some people like my classmates took the LPN to RN route. We attended a technical school for a year for the practical nursing program. 100% of our class passed the board exam 👏🏾. Majority of my classmates enrolled in an LPN to RN bridge program. It's less time am compared to going straight for RN (18 months give or take versus 3-4 years). In my opinion, it's more cost-effective, too. I can't speak for all of my classmates since not all of them were paying out-of-pocket like me. I know I didn't spend anywhere near $10k to attend the practical nursing program (close to or under $5k, possibly)
Oh wow that options sound very viable! Thank you. I will definitely look into this option.
Hi, I’m also in Cali and I just went back to school. Community colleges here are essentially free right now. You can knock out most of your prerequisite classes online. Your science+ lab classes for most nursing programs will have to be on site and taken within the last five years. If your job offers any type of tuition reimbursement apply for that program. If you’re looking for an ASN program- community colleges outhere have them. Google your local ones and apply for their program. If the community college you end up going to doesn’t offer the class you need. CVc.edu will allow you to take classes from any of California’s community colleges online and have it report directly to your primary schools transcript.
Double check with whatever program you find to see if they’ll accept online lab classes because if they do, it’s a game changer!!
Thanks for the information. It's very helpful.
Does your current company offer to pay for continued education? Look into that. A lot of companies will pay for you to get a degree, in exchange you would sign a contact to work for them for X amount of years.
Unfortunately my current job does not offer that kind of service, but I've been apart of some organizations that have training/schooling incentives. Thanks!
I traveled with my mom as a kid as well but that was a different time and long ago LOL 🤣 but good luck. Housing, travel, bonuses, tuition assistance grants and much online to apply for grants in the medical field. Good luck and just prepare for statistics in nursing school and you'll do great... There are many things to help with even though classes now just research for yourself like you would for a patient if the DR was slack and you really wanted to help your patient!!! You got this!
