Do defense contractor companies prefer hiring people with military service? Or is that not a factor in their hiring process?

I would say that the vast majority of their aeronautical job pool are Military because we know the aircraft and equipment and can be rapidly trained. If you’re talking jobs like IT, Operations Analyst, etc. You have a very good shot at getting hired based on education, qualifications, and experience. But with our aging workforce, the military aviation depots have paid internships and paid tuition to learn a variety of trades. Search Internship on USAJOBS.gov

I’m not sure but I will say that a lot of the contractors and government employees I work around are former military. That could be because there is a preference by the company or it could just be that many people in the military apply to be contractors and government employees after getting discharged.

like

That is a tricky question, Veterans tend to be preferred based on DoD experience and overall experience companies also benefit from having Veterans in their company. It is a factor in the hiring process for sure. Some companies value military service more than others it just depends on the position, company, and program the contract is supporting

I think it has more to do with your veteran preference points as a veteran you get 10 points for federal jobs so I think that is what people misconceive as favorite hiring or the misconception of hiring people because they were military.

It's an advantage but it is not the main and only factor in their hiring process. I've seen hired people with exceptional skills but no military background ata all.

I've personally never heard of this being a preference. I think the military gives people valuable skills that can be applied to any job.

I think your security clearance saves them money and time from vetting new people. You're already familiar with federal processes, and you're less resistant to doing what you're told (at first).

Yes. Already trained for the job and have a security clearance. Huge advantage for certain jobs.

After multiple rounds of interviews, had anyone ever been offered a job that was a full level lower than the position you were interviewed for? What did you do?

CCTC: 17
YOE: 8.3

Got 2 offers:
Lucidworks - 33
Boeing - 35(Verbal offer after countered them with lucidworks offer).

Now with freshworks, last round is pending.
Let me know what would be better.

From interview perspective, I enjoyed lucidworks interview as the interviews taken by quality people compared to other two companies. But it is a startup.

Btw, I have been interviewed for 6 rounds in Citrix and waiting to hear from them.

Hi Fishes
Can anyone please elaborate what to answer when asked about ssh and SSL vulnerabilities in an interview.

Hi everyone,

I'm going for a role for Account Director and have gone through the interviews with the head of accounts, BD as well as the ECD's. I received the following email at the end of the day:

"You are one of two candidates in the final round.

One thing we haven’t spoken about are your salary expectations. Could you have a think and let me know early next week as well as your employment status (residency permit)."

What would be the best way to answer this response? Appreciate the help

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.
