No. Not just because of the consistent revolving door of layoffs, but the need for advertising ebbs and flows and when it’s ebbing, it’s not a secure environment. I love this industry and my job so much, but it’s hard to stay in the industry past a certain age and I don’t want to be let go at 55 and struggle to find another agency because the industry is ageist.
No. I’m a decade from retirement, my salary sucks, I’ve got no promotion prospects, and nothing I’m being asked to do is any more challenging than when I was 40. In fact, it’s much less so because the work I’m asked to support is so basic and uninspired. I’m stagnant in a dying field.
Heck no. I always tell anyone who will listen that NOBODY is safe. Companies will replace you in a second if they think it will benefit them. At the end of the day no matter how good you are at your job you are replaceable and that is the harsh reality.
