I currently work for a company that’s remote-first. Everyone is 100% remote and all over the nation. If only one person on the team is remote and everyone else is meeting up, the dynamics would be off. I’ve been in that situation and quit because it’s can’t truly be inclusive, no matter how hard anyone tries.
I specifically only interviewed at remote-first companies when looking for a new job. I love remote working and my current position
Yes agreed that if everyone else is remote the. It should be fine.
I've not been 100% remote, but about as close as it can be since 2006. It has definitely had a negative impact on my networking and promotion options. Any specific questions on the topic?
To be clear I think it was worth it. I'm considering changing my situation towards less remote, but it's because my life situation has changed. And no it still won't be California.
My agency is in another city. I've excelled for three years fully remote (winning pitches and even one new client), so I don't see why RTO would ever be mandatory. Business-wise, 100% WFH is great.
Sometimes, though, I do wish I lived closer so I could have the option to go in when it makes sense. Get dinner with colleagues after work, commiserate about clients and bosses, that kind of thing.
But I would never want it to be forced on me. That completely ruins it.
Yup 100% remote since 2014. Most of the team is also remote so I’m not missing out on in-office events socials etc. I don’t think I could ever go back to a regular in-office role.
Come to Deloitte and have a team here!
OP- Would not recommend considering how many people have being getting laid off over this year and how many people/friends of friends who literally got laid off in the Seattle office yesterday 😬
