I usually take it off. You probably want to treat yourself and do nicer things than work on that day. It’s only once a year after all, so take the day off if you feel like it :)
I didn’t know they allowed children on this site…take all the time you need little boy or girl - you earned it!
Jokes aside…keep stacking sats and in short order this won’t be a question for you
Dont be afraid to be a little childish if it makes you happy
I take my birthday off !!!!
I don’t, but I don’t think it’s childish to do so. Kind of no point for me to take off a Tuesday since I’m not likely to do anything that would need me to be off.
I have taken it off every year for the past 8 years. It’s your birthday and your decision to celebrate how you like, kiddie or not.
Kids don’t get to take off school for birthday. I think it’s childish. If falls near weekend & taking long weekend, maybe. But come on. You can celebrate on the weekend.
Actually I ALWAYS had off from school on my birthday lol -- my birthday is in the summer, so school wasn't even in session to start with. Even during college, my schedule managed to work out so that I didn't have any classes on my birthday 😊
My birthday is a holiday so we always have it off but no one cares because it’s also a holiday sooo
I don’t mind working on my birthday.
I can celebrate privately after work or on the weekend.
However, I don’t want anyone to know. HR needs to respect and keep it confidential.
If the company wants to give me a PTO I should be able to use it at my discretion.
There are some companies out there that supposedly GIVE you your birthday off. But I never quite figured out which ones, its like one of those urban legends, a place where a "friend of a friend" works.
One place I used to work at did, under the one set of management. Not going to bother naming them, though, as that place went under quite a while back (among other things, they got caught faking the chemical test results in their reports. Fortunately for me, I was already gone by then, though, so their closure didn't affect me)
I’ve always taken it off until I started working in PA. It’s my birthday gift to myself. Who cares what other people say?
I always take my birthday off. To me it’s my personal holiday to treat myself
My birthday is April 11th, so not really an option for me.
I have never worked on my birthday. I take my birthday and my best friend’s birthday off every year. Our birthdays are almost 6 months apart so we treat each other to a day of fun and it’s a tradition we look forward to.
We both take our B-Days off :)b I think it's a great thing to do.
I never have taken my bday off. I think it is because I had my son when I was 20 so if I needed off it was for him. Then my back went to trash so it was either my son or my back. No real vacation until my son was out of high school. But that was my choice. I don't care if someone take time off on their bday. Go have fun! Enjoy your life. You only get this one.
Just another day. But, if you go to work and someone knows it’s your birthday they might be inclined to take you to lunch. Winner winner chicken dinner.
If you have the PTO, you can use it however you see fit, on whatever day you like. What does it matter to anyone, as long as your work is being completed?
Your husband sounds miserable, I usually take the week off, PTO is there do you to use at your own convenience, not just for trips or obligations
Are you a child???
I take the day of the day before and the day after
I always take my birthday off. I got into a terrible accident on my birthday a few years ago and make sure to celebrate the one day that God blessed me with that’s about me and whatever I want to do. So don’t listen to all of these finance/accounting bros. Their lives revolve around what they do so their responses are typical.
