A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

Find a real gym.
No classes.
Lift hard & heavy.
Find a coach who cares about you and will show you the in’s and outs.
Don’t want to depend on classes for the rest of your life.

Right - but I deal with clients more on the serious end.
And my mark of when I’m successful with a client is when they don’t need me anymore (as well as achieving their goal). There is no better gift I can give a client than the knowledge and ability to know exactly what they want to achieve and know how to do so pretty easily.
Otherwise it’s a revolving circle and the fitness industry is lining their pockets.
Lack of knowledge and adherence is why America has this huge problem we do now
Equinox. I've done it all, Equinox is my fave
F45

It’s fine. The workouts feel very random and border line made up
would you consider Orangetheory?
OT is great, I was doing it for over three years, before switching to equinox 4 years ago. Cons of OT: you always depend on their schedule, need to book class in advance, and it becomes pretty repetitive after some time. Plus there are days when all you need is yoga, elliptical or maybe just sauna, not a hard-core class...you won’t get it with OT, but pay almost the same price
Get the diet right first 😉
Equinox or Orange Theory get my vote.
I used to go to Flywheel regularly, and when my favorite instructor switched to Equinox I followed him there. I’m happy with my decision because now I can take many different types of classes and do my own workouts. The trainers are top notch as well!
Not peloton
Is Barry’s like a dudes house?
It’s a dark lit small room that charges you $36 a class to run on treadmill then switch to weights doing exercises with wrong form while the vain instructors check themselves out in the mirror
So I’ve narrowed it down to OTF vs a Peloton. Additional context here, I live in a high-rise in Chicago where I have a (decent) gym in my building. I’m also a (mediocre) marathon runner so cardio has never been an issue for me
I like the classes, but also they are so much more expensive than Peloton. Even with buying the bike/membership, after 16mo it’s cheaper. Idk, such a hard decision!
Easy decision for the bike, and firm is giving us 1K for fitness
Barry’s if you want results, and willing to a) fork over 400/month and b) commute to studio
Peloton as my backup workout, often cycling Barry’s 4-5x a week and peloton on the non Barry’s days

Orangetheory to me is like a bit of a less intense Barry’s. Unless your a die hard, Orange will probably be fine. So far I’m really liking it and think it’s great you can track your metrics.
Def not equinox if you want results fast, although I love it. The classes you want are usually only offered once a day or two, so I only use it for the gym portion.
Barry’s wins if it’s convenient for you. One of the most time efficient ways to get fit.
Equinox for cleanliness, especially if you have a Sports Club near you
Crossfit box
Peloton
I’ve done 3.
1. Barry’s is overhyped, it’s expensive and most importantly does not teach you proper form, the majority instructors will not correct you. It’s very easy to get injuries, I messed up a knee in that class. It gets boring after a while and you feel constricted with the things you can do in that small studio. Do it for fun only once in a while but not as a regular workout. There are so many better places.
2. Equinox being a gym has more options, I liked the variety of weight machines, different classes and sauna. If you are disciplined and would attend, do it.
3. Peloton is fun, I like the spin and boot camp classes. It’s easy bc you can do it anytime at your house. Downside, you can’t socialize.
You should try ClassPass if you like workout classes! It allows you to try different studios and gyms for much less and you’re not locked in to any studios! Barry’s and Rumble Training (very similar to Orange Theory) is on there!
Different cities have different studios but I loved trying different classes and now I have my favorites to switch it up (between Barry’s, Rumble, Solidcore, Tone House, etc). I also have a building gym that I use and go to a couple classes a week to push me so I don’t spend $$$ on classes/gyms.
Shameless plug, I have a referral link that gives you free credits and me a few credits if you want to try it out!
It really varies between each city and the pricing/credit for each studio. For example, you purchase X credits on ClassPass a month and you book a Barry’s class(that cost you 12 credits, or a Rumbles class for 6 credits, etc). The more classes you try, you’ll know which classes are a better deal. Example, I live in nyc and love Tone House- an athlete’s training/boot camp that cost less credits than Barry’s but is a tougher workout than Barry’s. On average I think I save at least $10 or more on a class than if I purchased directly thru their studio.
If you’re going 5/6 classes a week… then maybe an unlimited class package at a studio is more worth it for you.
