Ever feel stuck in a job where you’ve learned everything and nothing feels new? It’s like living the same day on repeat, same tasks, same questions, just different people. I’ve been in my role for 3 years now, and it feels like time to move on. But the roles I qualify for are just like this one, so trying feels pointless. I’m not just looking for a new role anymore. I feel like I need a whole new company, a fresh start, something different to grow again.

I start feeling that way every time I hit the 2 1/2-year mark at a job. Like, there's nothing new to experience in this environment and I need to move on. Sometimes, just having a new company and a new set of coworkers can be invigorating.

You’re absolutely right. Once you learn everything, you kind of go into autopilot. A new role or company brings fresh challenges and helps you build new skills to keep growing.

It really sounds like you need to find a new job, doing something different. Customer service can get to anyone after a while, it's just relentless problem solving. Brainstorm what you'd rather be doing, and try for some different positions. You've definitely got some skills you can carry with you, it's just a matter of deciding in what direction you'd like to go.

I have been looking for some positions for sure and trying to get in touch with people who can give me an insight to those positions. Hope to get something better soon.

You’re not alone—growth stalls when challenge disappears. Sometimes a new role isn’t enough; you need a place that actually fuels your fire again. Keep going—you’ll find it.

I hope so too! Sometimes I just feel completely stuck. I’ve been trying for a while now, but it feels like I need to push even harder.

I have felt that way many times. Usually that is when I start looking for somethhing new. I am a person who has to be challenged or I get bored.

I feel the same way. Even though every customer is different, dealing with them day after day starts to feel repetitive and boring over time.

Hi All, I am currently a Data Analyst with 1 year of experience and pursuing a masters in Computer Science (expected to graduate 5/2023). I am looking to transition into an entry Data Scientist role (preferably remote or Philadelphia, PA). Can someone refer me or let me know who is hiring?

I can provide my resume if needed.

Wondering if anyone can share the approximate timeline after applying to Target Corp. to hearing something from them. Applied 9/1 and on the applicant portal the status still says “in progress.” I got a great internal referral, but I’ve not reached out to the hiring manager. 😬 I know there were a few hundred applicants — what’s a realistic timeline and what could I say to the hiring manager if I reach out to them. Many thanks.

Venting a bit: Are you finding DEI groups at work overrun with allies. Is there also an increase in celebrating said allies? Is it just me?

Most of the groups I'm in (esp. event teams) are being taken over by allies wanting to do what they think should be done to 'celebrate' whatever topic the month is, usually speaking over marginalized coworkers and rarely consulting with them. It seems like the only time this doesn't happen is for gay (usually yt) men or BHM. I'm just feeling so...minimized.

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.
