And perhaps without realizing it, you point out why unlimited pto isn't all it's cracked up to be.
I feel like there’s a lot of quiet people not taking time off, not sure how to ask for it, and not posting here. My understanding is the new program isn’t working well for most people, but you’re unlikely to hear them admit it.

My goal was to take the same allotment as before, plus a few... but honestly I'm not even keeping track. I'm taking time off when it makes sense to do so and when I need to. And it's working well.
I had 5 weeks PTO before, I’m taking 5 weeks now.
Yes that’s the benchmark I have set for myself. I had 25 days of PTO before this unlimited thing kicked in this year.
Apart from unlimited PTO there is also 10 personal days for health reasons and to provide care for family. So it’s 25 + 10 each year.
With all the work we have you should be lucky if you can take all your vacations

I have unlimited PTO and am taking ~6-7 weeks (not including firm holidays) this year. Have taken about the same in prior years as well without any issues in performance/promotions.

Most people I talk to are following that same mentality. We had 25 days before excluding the 12+ (ballpark) firm holidays which is more than enough PTO, IMO.
I imagine if someone takes way more PTO then they “should” take it would reflect negatively on their reviews. I don’t know of any metric that factors PTO into utilization or anything.
Around 3-4 weeks for me. Even with a move to unlimited PTO, we still get 20 days off. So adding in a few Fridays, extended weekends, a week off, etc, I think it rounds out to be about the same as before
Taking the same as previously allocated, if not a few more days. There so many rules in place with the so called “unlimited pto” which is really just flex vacation.
It’s unlimited, partners are really stressing we take time off too. As long as your utilization % is good they don’t deny it. Anything more than 2 weeks requires partner approval, below that we just need to get manager approval on our current engagements
