Anyone with recent experience recruiting for Boston Consulting Group? Got in touch with a recruiter through referral, was directed to submit an application and already finished my pymetrics. Anyone know when I would be able to hear back and what the hiring timeline looks like? Recruiter suggested to get back in a few weeks but isn’t it too slow? McKinsey sent me an invite for 1st interview in a few days after they received my referral.
McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.
I need it until the end of the day. Tks

I recommend being willing to start at close to entry level, get your hands very dirty and be willing to jump firms quickly thereafter. You can’t fully change the perception people have of you staying at your current firm. Your new team will be resentful if you’re placed in too senior of role. Many lawyers will assume you couldn’t hack it. Starting over at a new firm where you control the perception more fully is helpful.
I did this and am happy I made the switch. Opportunity came up in my group that I thought would be interesting and I went for it.
I’m working with the same group that I was an associate in, but left for several years before coming back so am more familiar with the more senior attorneys. I feel I still have a good reputation and relationship with those attorneys, but am looked at a bit differently by the more junior attorneys who I never worked with while an associate - they see me more as support staff rather than a peer. I worked in house before so I had experience being part of operations rather than the revenue generator. Just an aspect you have to get used to if you transition out of being an associate and depends greatly on the people you work with.
