I think deal sourcing is one of the most transferable and valuable skills you can have. Obviously you want to the DD, but if you can get access to deals and have relationships you are powerful and more likely to be partner IMO.

Thanks to those who have commented. Im a bit concerned with long term stability vs. staying in a law firm, accumulating capital and trying to invest independently (share partnership is very difficult in law as well but profits per partner at my firm is $3M+). I’m seeing more and more “alternative” routes to VC outside of the traditional routes of starting and exiting a company or growing up within a VC firm. Not sure if that’s accurate but welcome any views. Thanks in advance.
