If you get more work, it means they need you (until they don’t need you). Congrats! You get to stay employed. You won’t get a salary bump to compensate for more work. It doesn’t work that way. If they cut too many people, they’ll adjust to hire next year.
When we went through downsizing the extra work just went to those of us that remained. Promises to figure out how to help the situation were empty. Expect the same output but with half as many resources. Really not sure what the company is thinking when they do this.
It is being hoisted on the already overworked remaining staff. Also, freelancers are being hired in place of full-time staff, so they do not have to pay benefits, which should be illegal.
