I have a possible opportunity at Protiviti. Coming from big4 and wondering if Protiviti has fairly similar perks. I’ve read the 2022 benefits guide and it gave a oddly low PTO count of 16 days. Is this true and what about a holiday disconnect in the December time period? Are there any other hidden perks that are awesome? Already heard WLB is better and the culture, but I feel like I’ve gotta find that out first hand. Protiviti
Hi I’m a current Graduate student, hoping to get my foot in the door for Deloitte Healthcare Consulting, Accenture CDP, or EY specifically within Chicago Offices. Is there anyone open to connecting and speaking on their experience being hired? I have previous experience working prior to my degree so hoping to get insight on how I can best score an interview. If you’re also open to providing a referral that would be a bonus!
December layoffs anywhere?
Hi all, I just got a job offer at PwC for a senior consultant position. The salary is 30% above my total comp right now, but I’m just worried about the amount of work I will have to put in compared to my amazing work life balance now. Does anyone have any experience moving from industry to consulting? I need some advice on what to do. I’m still early in my career (1.4yoe) so I feel like I shouldn’t care too much about wlb, but at the same time, I don’t want my mental health to suffer either.

If you’re in the NY area, I found Oscar had decent options that were not on the exchange.
Never. Predictable response btw.
People need insurance. Oscar is good and super affordable. It's been growing since way before the clown got elected. It's still good today. And it will still be good on January 20 when the clown is gone. The clown is simply not as important as many of you think to people's real everyday lives.

Also, it should be noted that there’s a grace period for signing up for Cobra. I think in California, when I got laid off, it was 60 days. What that means is you can go without insurance for 60 days and if something happens to you and you need medical attention, you can retroactively pay for cobra and you’ll be covered. But in those two months, you can be looking for a new job that will cover you or find an alternative insurance option.
Really sorry to hear this. You can compare to other marketplace options, but you may find the cobra price to be almost the same with much better coverage (that was my experience).
Thank you.

OP: I was laid off in April and stayed with Cobra as I found it was the cheapest and best coverage for my circumstances.
Go straight to www.freelancersunion.org to see what their widget recommends. Consider not just the monthly payment but also deductibles which can be quite high.
Don’t go to the ACA website as you’ll get spam calls and emails for months. Freelancers Union will automatically recommend the best ACA option.
Don’t worry, life probably feels like it sucks right now but it gets better. Then worse. Then better again. You are not alone in this.
Hi CD1, thanks very much; your reply was helpful and even made me laugh a bit. With Covid, unprecedented family issues and this job loss it has been quite a year. Yet, I remain thankful for my amazing wife, kids and friends. Take care and thank you for your reply.
To everyone who shared their thoughts, thank you. Take care and stay safe.
Sorry to hear it. If you're in CA, feel free to DM me.
Thanks, I’m in NJ, but I appreciate the support.
I’m sorry to hear that, that’s rough. What state are you in?
Thank you. I live in NJ, but worked in NY.
Can you negotiate your severance package? And see if your work can pay for Cobra?
Thanks very much.
Ditto on Oscar. I’m in CA
You can find an insurance person who can advise you, they freelance for this purpose. In my experience, the ACA options are more affordable but might be worse coverage so if you have a health issue you might keep the cobra. You can also do cobra for the rest of the year and sign up for new ACA options in November but lord knows what is going to happen with the ACA after 11/10 when it’s goes to the Supreme Court.
