It is not required to respond/react on everything in life. It is habit of some people to taunt them and if you get on argument with them, they will first drag you down to their level and then defeat you.
So, just ignore them.
Choose the battles that you want to fight. Is it worth your time?
Any kind of body shaming is not acceptable. Have a word with your husband.
This is not acceptable. If you tolerate disrespect now, the quantum of disrespect will keep increasing. Speak to your husband and ask him to lay down boundaries with his family
MIL needs to become a better human being
Send her to some tuition to learn about emotional intelligence
Don't tolerate such behaviour, they don't value your feelings or emotions,if you try to tolerate this then they will make it a habit of following such as you don't say a thing.
The world will not become perfect for us- Understand this.
All you can do this is:
1. Talk to your husband about it in chill mode.
2. Don't raise the concern again n again because once it goes to your MIL, she will do it more the chances are.
3. Ignore as if she doesn't exist. She is just testing your patience to the extent that you do something.
4. Get a wellness course for yourself and work on root cause of your health. I am part of such association where we help such people condition and fix it on permanent basis, obesity can invite many diseases in future. ( I am not offering you any course just suggesting).
5. Tell your MIL, " You're my mother, Your words aren't that helpful, at your age you should be motivating me to become better person like you, and I know you love me as much as I do but how can I become better without your support.
Try any of these whichever best.
Talk to ur husband the ways she talks to u. If he doesn't stop her , she will carry on will stooping low. Such mothers have insecurity to another level and that's why they look for reasons to belittle their DIL
She is just giving you motivation to not put that weight on again 🤣
Trust me, don't worry about these things as long as you have your partner on your side.
Are they still taunting you?
If yes, then discuss with your husband the situation and try to explain him that it is taking toll on your mental health.
If they still don’t understand then you should involve your parents.
