It’s going to be near impossible to go straight to PE without IB experience even if you have a top MBA. I think a year ago a move from FS audit to IB straight would have been possible (though still hard) with the market the way it is now your best bet is to go MBA at a T10-15 school, get a job at a top IB and then PE from there
Yea basically centered around the economic slowdown. Banks are doing layoffs across the board in IB right now due to the economic slowdown and slowdown in deal activity. This creates more competition for the slots that are open as well
But ou need to go to a good MBA program. One that places a lot of people in PE. Not all mba programs are created equal. So be careful
Ivy League
Get an mba if end goal is PE. You’ll land at a better IB and won’t waste time doing irrelevant work in fdd
I’d leave B4 asap for IB if PE is your goal. FDD may yield offers in PE but better chances exiting IB.
