Both. 401k and IRA

like

I max my 401(k) every year

like

Yes.. gotta switch to make Roth non deductible and backdoor since income went up above limits this year. Good problem to have, but will max out soon once get this resolved.

like

To explain pwc2’s context (from my best guess):

Roth IRA is only for people who make a certain income or less (140K or less in 2021). If you make more than that, you can’t contribute to a Roth IRA directly. To get around it (back door), you put it in a traditional IRA first (technically pre-tax) then convert it to a Roth, at which point you will pay tax on that amount.

Back door isn’t going away soon. Mega back door roths (which are different and company sponsored, so most people don’t have access to them) are likely to go away soon.

like

No. What if I don’t get to live to 60+?

Good luck with that haha

? Yes

Yes, dump in 6k in Jan in a traditional IRA and do a backdoor Roth

I'm planning a wedding and wondering if I should apply for new credit cards to maximize on points. If so, wondering what your recommendations are and or if there are new cards out there I haven't heard of yet. For context I probably have another 20k+ in expenses to pay still and my current cards are:

CSP
Marriott Bonvoy Boundless
Citi double cash

Under contract to buy my first home - house hacking a triplex. Property has been leased by the same three tenants for the last 5+ yrs, rents haven’t been raised since they moved in. Rents don’t make/break my mortgage payment but I’m leaving a lot on the table if I don’t increase significantly.

This might be the wrong place to ask but is getting a car worth it?

I think it’ll somewhat improve QOL but with parking, insurance, gas and financing costs I’m not sure spending almost 1K/month is a good idea at 22.

The other problem is that used cars are so damn expensive right now so I can’t just buy a used mx5 for 5-10K

I’m currently interviewing with a few top 10 firms and a couple top 100 firms for a mostly remote experienced associate/new senior role. Does anyone have any tips on virtual interviews and how to gauge the culture of the firm and if it really will be a good fit for you? I’m struggling to figure out that out because I used to gauge it on the feeling I got while in their office during interviews. Any suggestions would be helpful :)
