Getting hit with a $500 fee suggests you’re way behind on doing your expenses. I’ve never seen one that high, and usually there’s a 30 day grace period you have to blow through before they’ll start imposing late fees.
Nah OP, just call them and hold your ground. Bust out your best negotiating moves and you’ll beat the entire rap! I got Amex to reverse 500 bucks (coz remember the card is not on your credit and technically the firm is responsible for payments). So hit back hard and tell them you’ll settle up the whole amount iff they take off the fee. Good luck and negotiate the eff outta them! You can do it!
EY it works differently. Once we expense it, EY pays us and we pay Amex. I haven't expensed it yet, I just saw the charge and called them.
@D1, this is on me as well since I never got a chance to expense and hence could not pay Amex. But still I am not willing to take $500 on myself
How delinquent are you on your payment?
Expense it as a snack
This happened to me last year. They will occasionally waive a smaller fee like $25 to $75, but the remaining amount will need to be paid by you.
(Btw, the settlement will happen all at once in any case if you claimed expenses all at one go, but Amex doesn’t know that... so work that to your advantage)
Oh, well I got charged because I forgot (got lazy) to do my expenses. So I paid the fee.
Then you gots to channel your inner negotiator and go for it! If I can do it, so can you!
Op we need more info dude come on. Why so delinquent.
I’ve gone ~45 days overdue before and I only got a $40 late fee that Amex automatically refunded a short time after charging me. If you got $500 it must be way over that, I’m surprised you haven’t hit your credit limit yet
80 Days right now. Just call them and be like “I’m trying...blah blah expenses got rejected.. internal systems”
Never paid a fee or turned in an expense report on tine
