Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Anyone have tips for cover letter/resume to stand out?
They are huge on not negotiating salary there based on their blog.
Anyone know the base salary/expected commission? - It requires you to answer on the application. I would be so thrilled to work at the company I just want to put what they start out at.

At that level both will probably be 200k all in, but I would personally prefer MBB since you can still exit to PE ops after MBB but the reverse might not be true. The work is similar but obviously PE ops you work with small portfolio companies rather than large publics. Strategy& has a PE Value Creation practice that does PE Ops work and Im sure MBB does as well. So if you are doing PE ops project at MBB work will be similar, but you can have greater variety of projects vs just doing PE ops
Regarding comp, I'm not clear yet but under the impression PE ops gets carry down the road. Say 5yrs later, what do you think the gap in comp will be?
MBB ops is just MBB, which I would consider better than MM ops. The pay by level is standardized and well known. What level are they considering you for at MBB? The post MBA level?
Yes post-MBA associate level
