Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

@D1- right?!
Just about.... you need it to put a deposit on a rental, get a mobile phone etc.
Not American but worked in London, everything was taken care for me by the sponsoring company, flat, moving expenses from us, legal arrangements, etc. overall process was not bad but Brits are very bureaucratic so get ready for that...
American working in London. HSBC Premier and Citigold are good global bank products that can facilitate UK accounts before you even arrive. That said, I've been here more than a year and never bothered to get a U.K. bank account. If you're not actually going to be staffed in the U.K., you can avoid U.K. taxes on income that relates to days you're working outside the U.K. by having your employer pay you into a non-UK account. I have an offshore account in Jersey set up by HSBC. I use that to pay rent, etc. I also haven't bothered to get any U.K. credit cards, though AMEX has a global transfer program where if you have a US card you can get ones in other countries even if you don't have a credit history there. I haven't gotten a personal mobile phone here, so can't comment on that
I still have my Natwest account, it was need to get a mobile phone back then
Mate, Aussie here who moved to your country (US) I can tell you relocation is hard work wherever you come from/go. Choose a global bank (Citibank, HSBC) who can make it easier, and no doubt your firm will have resources you can tap into.
