Have interview with pwc FDD role. Currently first year in IT Audit and would you love to move over to get more exposure to the financial side of things. I might be overexcited about a role that I don’t even have yet, but would it make sense to bounce even if I would be taking a significant pay cut. I value the learning and exit opportunities more than pay right now and seem to be getting ahead of myself. Just curious of other points of view.

Those are two different jobs. Do what aligns with your mid term/long term career path more and dont worry about pay.

like

You wouldn’t be taking a pay cut lol

like

how much could you possibly be making as a first year in IT audit? Experienced associate jobs in b4 fdd are 75-90k depending on location

like

Well at EY right now, it audit is currently making 84 in my area. Just speaking with some individuals who are in the FDD practice seems the range is about 74-78 as A1’s.

Significant paycut? In the grand scheme of things, 5-10k when you’re starting your career won’t be a big deal over your lifetime. You’ll prob get a signing bonus too

like

You won't take a pay cut.

Deals in PwC is quite lucrative (for B4).

I know a Manager in Audit moved to Manger in FDD - asked him what his percentage raise was when he started working with us. He got a ~50% pay bump.

I know IT audit gets paid more than financial audit but not 50% more.

like

Thanks for the insight. I wasn’t too particular about pay honestly, just wanted people’s opinions on if the learning opportunity outweigh the pay cut in the short term scheme of things. Glad to hear that pay doesn’t seem to be an issue in the future :)

Moved over from IT audit. Far better role. Best of luck.

Why do you think you’re excited for this role? It is very different to your current team. It also sounds like you might have some expectations around exit opportunities. Do you think FDD will help you with that?

Everything you said makes sense and breadth of experience can be very important early in your career. What I will say is FDD will help you with learning how businesses work.

I also am a 1st year at EY staff in IT audit who interviewed for this role! have you heard back yet?

ugh not yet still waiting! i followed up with the recruiter and he asked me for some times for “follow up calls” so hopefully that’s a good sign that a partner will call me !!!

Are there any fully remote lawfirms, ie you don't have to live in the state they have offices? I recently left a large lawfirm to go in-house which came with a huge paycut that is not going to be sustainable long term, but needed a remote position to be able to move. I'd like to keep my current job part-time but get back in a lawfirm too.

Hi all. First message here but hoping someone for some guidance from the community. Looking to land my first AM role. I have 8 years in Sales (New Home Developer/Builder) experience. So I just started a new job in sales (B2B specifically). All my life I’ve been in blue collar jobs, military, then construction work ect. I don’t have much money saved to get myself my own business cards as I’m sure they are important to have, I’ve got all the info that I need to go out and start selling. I guess what I’m looking for is just tips on how you guys were successful walking into a whole new arena if that makes sense?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
