So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I didn't personally because I'm not a partner and I can't do that, but have recommended it and was heavily involved in the process in terms of providing info /documentation to support the decision. No regrets, they weren't coming anywhere close to something that would be considered even mediocre performance.
If by “fire someone” you mean tell Accenture they were doing a terrible job and they weren’t welcome back the following week, then yes.
I didn’t fire anyone but gave critical feedback to 2 employees a few years ago… driving them to leave the company. They both don’t agree with the assessment and have since not spoken to me. I met them 1-2 times and tried to be nice but they probably see me as a demon or something. Nothing personal - they were just below the expectations of the role they were in
Lol what if you were the one who was wrong though?

- 1 junior (recommended who lead to execution) as a senior consultant. The guy was lazy, arriving at the office at 10 am, stoping to smoke every 39 minutes. His deluverables were terrible.
- 1 junior (recommended who lead to execution) who was always calling sick when he wanted to go beers with his friends or his girlfriend was mad. he didnt pick the phone om business hours, never finalized anything and always was pushing the work to his teammates, always full of excuses and negativity.
- 2 girls on my first year of manager, covid summer, one was underperforfming, the other was because of budget. Communicated to one of them, she started crying.

I did not directly fire someone, but we had a consultant from a boutique who had zero idea what they were doing, even though they were marketed as having years of experience in a particular technology. I told the client about it and they were thankful for the feedback, as they were noticing their poor performance too. They were gone by the end of that next week and I never heard from them again
No we don’t get to fire anyone. I’ve tried so hard, but the best I can do is put them on the bench. I’ve never even seen someone get fired. I’ve seen people get sent to the bench and a few weeks later they disappear. In consulting it’s usually the same thing. They are put in way over their head and abilities. If my choice is fail to deliver or send several people to the bench I never regret it. You could run through the clients site naked and keep your job, it’s so hard to get fired. Laid off sure that happens, but actually fired. Very rare…
Had to fire a chronic underperformer who had a great attitude. Don't regret it because it was the right business move, but woof - not fun or easy.
