No I have never worked somewhere that only gave us 15 minutes to close. Typically the places I have worked we are closing for an hour or more. We definitely do not skip tasks or leave dishes overnight. That is a big no no.
Thank you for the response. I felt so awful leaving the place in such poor condition. There were even times that dishes not done the night before were still there for closing shift the next day (the managers/owners open every single day). I wanted to make sure I had not been wrong in thinking this was out of the ordinary.
Skipping tasks has always been a no-no at my jobs. Managers would usually finish if we were way over time.
I have also only seen this, I've even stayed 2+ hours after close where there was an oil spill fry cooking. I was disappointed in the management at my last job.
We always pre-close. We wash everything we aren't actively using and mop floors in sections.
I have seen pre-closing at every location I've worked at, but never somewhere we were told to skip tasks or leave dishes overnight regularly. I've also never worked somewhere they wanted us to mop the floors before we were done with food preperation.
