This is how I always look at it as well.
I'd likely do the same as you and okay it. It's not up to us to understand someone's superstitious or spiritual beliefs. As long as the meeting is had soon after, I'd leave it alone. But at the same time, it gives you a bit of insight on that family's lifestyle and their influences.
Uh, no. I can't say that that has ever happened to me. To each their own, I guess.
