Have you ever worked with someone with a service animal? Did it cause any commotion in the office?

Never worked with anyone that had a service animal, what is the commotion being caused though? Is it the animal or the people around? I don’t know everything about the topic, but generally the animals are above and beyond trained. Probably put in better work than a lot of us around in a day.

I haven’t, although I wouldn’t have a problem with it - I like animals more than people anyway lol.

Yes we had one that was in our office but he was a really well trained and well behaved dog so it never caused any commotion. I have found that most service animals are really well trained

I haven’t worked with one.

I have not

Working service animals are trained to not cause commotion and assist their humans. The animal is also here to do a job. As far as I know, the only commotion would be if other humans make a fuss over the animal. Be sure to follow any instructions from the person with the service animal on how to interact with or not interact with the animal.

My Mother-In-Law has a service dog. She is deaf, and her dog acts as her ears. This dog is incredibly well-trained and in no way will cause any disruption in an office or any other environment. He will not bark, sniff people, or really do anything that my MIL does not command him to do (or allow him to do with commands).

With that said, there are a lot of unofficial service dogs that people claim are service animals. You see these animals around, and they are pulling on their leashes, jumping on people, sniffing, etc. From my experience with service dog providers, these are NOT trained service animals.

The biggest thing to expect with a service animal would be people wanting to pet the cute dog or otherwise treat them like pets. In reality, a truly trained service animal is a medical device. It seems cold to say that, but the training is incredible.

Or would it usually be something a content or speech writer would do?

What should I reasonably expect from a junior?

I manage a junior developer that's been with the company for about 18 months. I end up providing them of TON of support. I need to give them extremely detailed instructions or they fail. For bugs, I need to point them to a specific function that's causing the bug. For new features, I'm basically writing their method signatures and defining their test cases.

I've tried asking them to do more on their own, but when I do, they fail spectacularly.

Do managers tend to make a scene while you put your papers?

I struggle w/ deep convos in social settings w/ partners. We have team dinners every few weeks that I go to, but find it tough to engage with them. Doing well on case, but feel it’s career limiting.

Heard from me:

What are your client follow-up/communication policies or practices? I’m hearing more and more that clients don’t like the long periods of time with little to no contact. From my perspective, since I bill for my time, unless I have an update or need something, I don’t initiate a call. Also, clients hold on to important info and don’t initiate a call cause they’re waiting for me to communicate with them.
