Thoughts on Veteran status and the ongoing corporate layoffs?

Have an interview with a company I really want to work for tomorrow. My last job I was laid off b/c of an acquisition&recently accepted a job at a diff company b/c I couldnt afford not to. I got this invite shortly after. The place I’m interviewing at the job wouldn’t start til next year. I dont want to seem like a job hopper. Do i tell them I’m at a new role or just not bring it up? The acquisition was public so they can see Im no longer employed with the most recent work history on my resume

Shall I disclose reason for leaving a firm during my initial call with a recruiter from said firm, if I was laid off? Are they privy to that information. Ironically being recruited by that same firm

It’s so nice that every agency laying off people, have those left standing (and other agencies) trying to hustle jobs for their unemployed friends, but there are also a ton of people who were unemployed prior to Covid...so no severance, job hunting lot longer, and not earning income for longer time...hurting even MORE due to quarantine.

We’re in such a vicious business. You give your heart & soul to an agency, a client, a brand. Then the wind changes & you’re laid off, reassigned, chewed up, spit out, on to the next. I’m tired.

I just got laid off from my job as a gov contractor because the project I was working on ended. I’m currently a grad student part time and was hoping to work that job until finishing grad school before applying to consulting roles. I had two rounds of discussion (more than a month ago) and the recruiter informed me that they’ll be scheduling the HR discussion and then be rolling out the offer.

It has been two weeks now and I haven’t heard from the recruiter nor has my HR discussion been scheduled.

The recruiter does not answer my calls or reply to e-mails.
