...This was a patient zero. You read it on here first. Goodbye all.
No need to alert the CDC - it’s Hand, Foot and Mouth virus - young kids get it and are contagious for a 3-6 days. Some adults (like myself with weakened immune systems due to advertising career) pick it up but its extremely rare for it to go Contagion. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hand-foot-and-mouth-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20353035
Anyhow, thanks for the comments. I’ll power through.
Any parent who has seen this in their children knows this virus and knows it’s no big deal and neither contagious or dangerous for adults. If your hands are blistered, don’t shake hands w clients and just say you’ve had skin thing that is not contagious, but just to be safe, you’d think it’s better to not shake hands...or you’ve had a cold, or make up something else innocuous so you don’t call a lot of attn to yourself. Don’t make it a big thing, just brush it off when you’re introduced. It’s shouldn’t be visible anywhere else on you and the worst you should feel is cold/mild flu-ish.
My kids have had this several times (not true that they can’t get it again). Hope you all feel better soon
Do it if you can and don’t if you can’t. If you’re sick and contagious it’s ok to phone it in...
Hope your kid feels better :)
What do you mean not contagious between adults?? How do you know??
@EP1 not everyone has kids and clearly from this thread not everyone knows this isn’t a big deal (I certainly didn’t) so I would actually recommend explaining it instead of brushing it off as no big deal.
@OP as long as you don’t try to go to a client with pinkeye like my former coworker did I think you will be fine. Good luck!
Go home. Sleep it off. It's just work. Health is wealth
Sounds like Coxsackie.
Have an emergenC packet 2-3 hours before mtg. Should give you a little boost of energy and hydration that will help along with a couple ibuprofen to ease pain. Keep it simple and rest every moment you can. Ask others to pitch in on talking for you...be calm. Dress nicely, a great new shirt or top will make you look and feel better.
hang in there you’ve got this!
I wish this was called Fishbowl MD but since it's not, I extremely advise speaking with a healthcare professional... Otherwise, be confident and good luck on the presentation.
