Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
What happens at RIMS? Is it worth going to?
That’s the dream.

What inspired you to join this industry?

If its T-Mo, I interviewed with same company and most probably same team, its a good team but not much of exciting work. Their corp strategy team solves a lot of internal problems. They have certainly solid people in the group and definitely defined career path. You will be VP in few years but Telco genuinely doesn’t have lots of exciting problems to solve. I spoke with them in details around key problems and they are still trying to solve how to get more customers at better pricing point. Not much of focus around new applications in Connected car, healthcare etc. If you think that’s good enough, please join. Company has excellent work culture and WLB. Feel free to DM if you’d like to discuss.
If #1 is Verizon, I’d never take the job - no matter how much money it is. They’ve got the worst culture of any company I’ve seen. You’re better off working unlimited hours.

Hi M1 - I am interviewing for version media . Any insights . WLB, culture and growth

Smells like T-Mobile. If so, the Corp strat team seems like a solid group of people. But don’t buy into the whole 5g white space idea. The telcos gave away all value with 4g, they’ll end up doing the same with 5g. The real value will be with the users of the networks and providers of solutions.
Clearly a question of priorities. Is it more towards WLB or $$.
Also type of work I'd say. One is corp strategy, and one is sales/GTM strategy for a specific BU
Where will you be relocating to and from?
That could be a big factor

This. How does COL factor in?
What’s so bad about Verizon? Have heard super Cush 9-5 and if working on 5G sounds cool
Two questions for you
1. How many YOE?
2. Where'd you get your MBA from?
Not sure if you meant accenture1 or analyst1 but regardless, I appreciate the motivation! I’m keeping my head up here in the meantime but don’t want to stay here long term. What’s the best skillset to build for a nontechnical person?
relocation to where? big factor in my opinion. also, curious about org, since neither att nor vz have, in my opinion, an “amazing culture”
Don't go into telecom
