As someone will say " take the money fool".
To add to my argument of asking for a higher role: I have 1.5 YOE in the industry, have relevant certifications that are a plus, which is much more than a new grad hire. I think minimally, I should be getting an A5 (sr analyst) or B1 (associate consultant) role (please correct me if I’m wrong).
Furthermore, the reason why I want to take the offer is because the salary is a 50% increase to my current salary, is a global and more mature firm (where mine is a boutique consulting firm) which I think will be better for my career, and I really liked the team that I interviewed with. However, I don’t want to go if it means it will slow my career progression by an additional year or two.
Yes, please let them know exactly what your situation is. Otherwise, you would feel inclined to decline the offer. It doesn't hurt to ask and let them know you've demonstrated that you're performing at the next level. You should at the very least be A5 which is consultant II. Ideally, you probably want to join as B1 which is SC level.
honestly I don't know haha.. all you need to know is Cap goes Consultant, Consultant II, Senior Consultant... that's equivalent to Analyst and Consultant. Consultant 2 is in between those, but it doesn't really exist anywhere but Cap. No worries about the questions, it's really confusing but can work in your favor because it's kind of a title hack. For example, you can become a "SC" at Cap in 3 years or less whereas other firms take much longer...
I think you absolutely deserve the next level up, but I'd caution against declining because of a 1 year speed bump - career growth is much faster on the services side vs industry, and this does represent a 50% increase in salary - which is vertical progress in its own right.
This is very firm dependent - Capgemini people will know more. Definitely ask - the worst they can say is no.
Check and see if there are job recs open at that next level, that should help your case if so.
Rising Star
Invent is very different than Capgemini proper. But if you’re being brought in as a campus hire, then there is very little leeway. With 1.5 years Industry experience, Invent would not let you be A level and we would bring you in at B level.
This is just another data point.
Thanks for the clarification! I think my offer was a generalist consultant (no mentions of service line), would there be any possibility to discuss opportunities to join invent or do an internal transfer to invent?
