Hi all. I’m struggling with client management and starting to absolutely hate my role. I feel like I have plateaued in my ability to provide counsel. At the same time, I’ve dropped my effort overall due to genuinely having no interest in their companies or mission. I have been seeking new roles for a while and just feel stuck. I am a hard worker and struggle with any stagnation. I want to feel connected to my work and to grow. Does anyone have any advice?

A) if you’re completely checked out then it’s a no brainer to find something new.
B) if you still have the fire and motivation in you, have you taken this to your leader / boss to explore options of development, other roles, a change in responsibilities etc? A fresh take on the company might help but only if you’re committed to the company and direction. If not, it’s time to move on if you have nothing else to give.

Try to find new ways to challenge yourself and grow in your role something like taking on new projects, learning new skills, or shadowing other account managers.

7 year lawyer here. Been with the same big national firm all 7 years (not BigLaw) doing complex litigation. Been working remote a long time due to moving around for wife’s job. As a result of the moving was bumped off partner track. I’m looking at a great small firm that will be a practice change (but still litigation). I’m told they’re looking for someone with less experience and they’re skeptical because of my experience. It’s frustrating. How do I overcome this?

Mid level associate, NY BigLaw. I am debating transitioning into a professional/business development role at a firm for WLB reasons. For anyone who has made the switch (or knows someone closely who did), any regrets? I’ve paid off my student loans and share expenses with a partner, but the pay cut is over 60%. Worth it for my dream WLB, but can I truly expect a 9-5? I love law firms as a workplace/business, just can’t do the attny lifestyle much longer. (If only I could practice big law 9-5!).

Hi, I'm an employee at a hotel chain who works remotely. I've been working remotely for over a year now and I love it! The company I work for is very supportive of remote workers, which is great.

But there's one thing that's been bothering me: it's hard to get feedback on my work when I'm not in the office. It would be great if there was some kind of system that let me know how my performance was being evaluated while I'm working on projects from home.

I currently do planning system implementation at SC level. Quite technical stuff and less PMO. What are my future career possibilities from here onwards? Can I keep progressing in the standard ladder and keep doing implementations, or is it automatically going to end up becoming more are more sales oriented and less actual implementation work? Especially interested in the SM level and above. I’d prefer staying at Big 4 and avoid the supplier side.

Now'what and all would be the consequences she might face. Is there any chance of these things are being escalated? Please advise!

I'm currently an SEO Analyst/Web Developer/Digital Marketer. Looking to be more client facing in the future. You think I have a chance in an Account Management role?

When cold contacting an agency (because the agency doesn’t post jobs online), is it better to contact the head of account mgmt, or the agency’s recruiter?

Throughout my career, I have worked at both “traditional” and “digital” shops. My current agency would fall under traditional but also offers digital services. Our process, roles and skillsets seem way outdated but I wasn’t sure if it was just my opinion or if this is just how it works. For example, we have no CTO or tech leads. Our digital producers feel more like project managers than actual producers. Account Management is just traditional, no real digital knowledge. Feels layered and dated.

Anyone else finding it very difficult to get any enjoyment out of account management these days? Any coping tips? I feel like being an account person is especially difficult in the COVID era since so much of what we do is manage communications, ensure the team is set up well etc. None of this feels particularly fun alone staring into the void of Zoom all day ... but the same pressure is still there. I feel like I spend every week counting down to the weekend which kinda sucks.

I work for a small agency and manage our internal marketing acct. We had very few processes in place when I started. I’ve since created, implemented, and trained our dept. on project mgmt for clients and am trying to convince the owner to apply those principles to our internal jobs. They are resistant because they just want the work to be done and don’t “want to keep spending money on internal jobs”. I’m confused because we’re doing the work either way and “spending” in labor/resources.
