CROs will be your easiest avenue into monitoring. They’ll pay roughly a starting point of ~70K and typically after a year promote you to a CRA II if you’re good and motivated. You can then leverage just a single year of experience for 100K anywhere else, often with a sign-on bonus. You can also target big Sponsors when you have another year of experience, potentially taking a pay or title cut, but with greater benefits. Try looking at ICON, Syneos, or IQVIA (you want CROs that are big enough to provide you with support as you develop) and apply for indications based on your experience (if you don’t have onc experience it’s not worth applying for a CRA position within the onc portfolio; it won’t happen).
