Any in-house counsel in here willing to post their company, level or YOE, and total comp breakdown? If you’re comfortable, please consider posting both your current stats and what your stats were when you first moved in-house. If there’s any other information that you want to share, please include that too (e.g., hours, interesting perks, etc.). Info on in-house salaries is pretty hard to come by, and it would be great to compile some data points here! Facebook Amazon Google Netflix Apple

Probably not if you’re going to be a contracts lawyer. My job entails a lot of contract reading and yes it is very very boring a lot of the time.
I actually am not on any meds but sometimes I wonder if they would help me. Instead I just go through times where I’m keyed in and times where I can’t focus and either just allow myself to be distracted and come back to it later or am bored to literal tears reading through a contract where I have to go over the same sentence 20 times because I can’t focus.
I still take my meds, but it would be much easier to go without them than in private practice because I’m not just churning through boring documents as efficiently as possible. Not having to bill time makes a huge difference.
Better WLB and less stress also makes it easier to practice other management strategies, like getting enough sleep, sticking to routines and exercising.
You could also talk to your doctor about alternate medications or dosages. Adderall and Focalin made me feel like a robot but I’ve been very happy with my current Vyvanse prescription.

I am. Life off medication is pretty good for me in-house. My days are way crazier, but this job is SO much more varied that it feels like it meshes with how my brain works a lot better than firm work. It’s a lot more relationships, which I excel at, and a lot less tedious work under time pressure. I find that I can do “hard” tasks at times that I’m able to focus and have enough random stuff and phone calls to fill the rest of my time.

It’s occasionally an issue for me. I often ask our internal teams for a deadline to keep me on track but I absolutely let long term stuff slip on the regular. It seems like a LOT less of an issue than in BigLaw.

In house my day is far more crazy than it ever was in big law.
Yeah I’m like this as well. Crazy is good for me.
No and I wouldn’t have been able to handle the high contract workload without it. Lol
