We don't allow any devices that can be used to record others. Period. It's pretty much a non-starter for our workplace after one incident.
Absolutely correct policy..
Please let's not make "policies and procedures" to deal with interpersonal conflicts.
If the glasses are an issue, ban them. Easy peasy.
I agree, first I have heard of it and anyone having them so I was unsure if others are also seeing this.
Thank you!

Recording your own company employees just show that you won't believe on them.it affects productivity.
I agree! Why does adult need a 24/7 monitor system within home. Trust isn’t free, and it can’t be built in a day. As the proverb goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was Noah’s Ark! So every idea of ideological was basically about saving all the animals from the apocalypse, right? But trust quickly turned into distrust when the priority seemed to be onboarding process saving the animals before humans.
Wearable recording devices are banned in our workplace
Policy Statement on Recording Devices
No personal devices (phones, cameras, tablets, or other recording tools) are allowed to record video or audio on company/school property unless explicitly approved by management with job requirements. Existing security cameras already monitor necessary areas, and recordings are only permitted if directly related to job responsibilities or approved accessibility needs. Unauthorized recording may result in disciplinary action.
Example: An employee working in a role requiring detailed work, such as in semiconductor manufacturing, may use a device (e.g., phone) for work purposes. However, the device and any recordings must remain under company control and oversight at all times due to its company, school or organization property.
Note on Personal Photos and Privacy: Taking casual photos or “talking pictures” with coworkers or friends is not a crime. The concern arises when such photos or recordings are used or shared without the consent of those involved especially in situations involving children or others’ family members without the parent or guardian’s knowledge or consent. It is good practice, as with social media, to always ask permission verbal before posting or sharing images as not many people know about the digital awareness. Private phones and personal lives matter; employees or non employees have the right to keep their personal communications private.
Responsibility Reminder: While keeping personal recordings private may not be an issue in itself, it becomes a problem if it compromises the company’s reputation, safety, or security if a stranger is posting a child picture without asking mother's permission. Even if management is minimal or does not strictly enforce processes, respecting these policies is critical for private companies and the protection of individuals’ lives and privacy. Employees are expected to act responsibly and ensure that any personal devices or recordings do not create risks for the workplace, its employees, or anyone associated with the organization.
In Washington State (and generally across the U.S.), posting images of a minor child without parental consent can be a serious privacy issue even if the images are not sexual. It may not always rise to a criminal offense, but there are legal avenues to protect the child and hold the accountable of the case in investment. ...and so on and on..
I never thought about the possibility that employees might use smart glasses at work, until now. So I'm going to pose the what if question here.,. Employers are recording everything employees do i.e. phone conversations, security cameras everywhere, every virtual meeting, every keystroke on ones computer, every activity on every device. Why shouldn't employees build their own files of what employers are doing it requiring employees to do for their own protection? Employers have already broken trust from day one with their recordings. Don't you find it already disgusting what employers are doing?
unless its necessary for the job requirements, they should not be allowed, haven't seen it happen yet in my workplace, but I'm sure we would have the policy that any sort of video or audio or communication devices that threaten people's comfort and could be used for "clandestine" purposes or without people's consent or awareness would not be allowed...
We haven't had issues with it. We do have people who have them but it hasn't ever been an issue. What kind of issue are you having exactly?

Well, if employees are using them to record their fellow employees or other people without their knowledge and consent, it could be an issue if you're in an all-party consent state.
Not even to mention that recording your coworkers is creepy AF.
