How badly does an analyst have to mess up in front of a client to get fired?

Is Operations paid the least at your respective firms? I was hired to a Client Service Delivery role with a heavy focus on project management. I regularly interface with leadership internally and at the client. But, I am aligned to the “Operations” capability and make the least of my teammates who perform seemingly identical work but are aligned to “Strategy and Consulting.” I worry I’m on a career path to being paid the least wherever I go, because Operations is in my title and background.

So, after a year of not so quietly making it known that I wanted to make the transition from the tech side to the business side I have officially been extended an offer to take on a Project Manager internally (coming from a software configurer). The client I have been assigned to has many of our products, however, the specific project I have been assigned to is a problem child and has damaged the companies relationship with the client. Any advice for a new, young PM being shoved into a problem?

Hey all, I had a web application running on Google App Engine (from 2011). Didn’t need much caretaking and at some point appengine got an overhaul and now I can’t figure out how to navigate the setup. Looking for recommendations on time management books or apps , tips in general. Have been feeling overwhelmed with all the tasks and projects lately.

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.
