don't risk losing the T2 offer to try to go to MBB. You can always come to MBB later with a stronger profile
MBB is not one firm. The size gap between McK or BCG and Bain is far larger than that between Bain and the biggest T2. Outside McKinsey, the prestige gap isn’t all that much unlike many potential recruits seem to think it is.
If you liked the people you talked with in the process, go join that T2 firm and focus on integrating well. Most T2 firms are big enough and global enough to allow you to learn, grow and make a ton of money in if successful.
MBB exit opps will be better, but not insanely better. If you are doing well at a T2, imo it makes no sense to lose internal network/credibility to jump to MBB.
Eh, then it’s different. <2YOE, i.e. basically 1YOE is a rounding error in your career, and the MBB brand name will help a lot much further down the line.
But someone’s who’s been there 4 years and takes a demotion for MBB, or a Manager, etc -> it doesn’t really make sense.

FYI, if you move to MBB you will be knocked down a level.
So moving to MBB is the same as a promotion at your T2 (with less money)
This is exactly it, based off Glassdoor seems like salary gap between T2 and the level I would likely be offered at an MBB would be c. 20%. I am relatively junior. I wonder if the doors MBB opens vs. T2 is worth. Not even money wise but going back a year or two and doing low value add tasks

I think you need to clarify the question. The gap in compensation, the gap skillset or the gap in how big a dude in a Patagonia vest gets when you mention your firm aka prestige are all different.
Each answer is different. But the difference in how rock hard Jared gets when you say you work at MBB is most significant
MBB usually will want you to come in a level down, might not be the best move
