Put your social life on hold and study until you pass
Hammer through hundreds of mcqs. Understand the journal entries, theory and calculations. Don't wait too long to take the test or you will forget the first stuff you started studying
Happiness during your study period for the CPA exam is inversely proportionate to your likeliness of passing.
Make a schedule and stick to it
Get off FB and study
Yup, agree with D1, do as many mc as u can. Use Becker, wiley, gleim, + anything else that has mc. Comprehension is key, do not just memorize. Knowing journal entries will be a life saver
Praying
Basically find something that works and keep doing that. I would study on my commute 1 hr each way, 2 hours after work everyday except Fridays due to partying, no studying on weekends except for week before the test (also due to partying), and would study 4-7 days straight right before the test. Never studying during busy season. Hope that was informative
You have to know what study style is best and most efficient for yourself. Self discipline is a huge part of it - stick to a study schedule and don't fall through like others mentioned. However in terms of learning the material - think back to college how did you best learn? Do lectures bore you and you'd rather read on your own? Skip the lectures and just read. Or vice versa. Some people can do just MC but don't ret on that if you're the type to memorize the questions/answers and not the concept behind it. Use/make flash cards if that works for you, etc.
Have a baby, it will change your perspective on efficiency and getting it done fast
I would literally rewrite the book (Becker) and did all the mcqs multiple times. I didn't watch lectures since I'm not an audible learner and the online book has the markups described in the lectures. Also put your social life/fun on hold. I would watch an episode of mad men for a mental break for about every 4-5 hours of studying.
I passed by getting at least a 75 on each part and doing so within 18 months...
By studying 😂
I feel like a lot of these tests are about putting in the time. If you clock a certain amount of hours and implement a sound test taking strategy you will have successful results in the end. Professional certification exams are about content mastery. So you must do what you have to do to master the key "testable" concepts. For CPA it is really about drilling the MCQs, especially the previously released questions. But some find reading the books and watching lectures to be helpful as well.
It's been a few years so this may be dated. However, I used the Gleim MCQs to learn what I was weak at and spent most of my in depth study time in areas where I was weakest (where I was under 80% on MCQ's regularly). Once I got those up to my stronger areas, I sat for the section and passed easily. Time is limited. Didn't want to waste time on areas I already understood and the tools I had helped me be efficient.
I got Becker and followed their study protocol to the T. Passed upon 1st attempt for all
Honestly find something that works!! I meet people with extremely different studying habits or techniques that have passed.
Put in 4-5 hours a day
