They want you out. PIP usually is a structured layoff to limit your options for legal action.
Don’t stress about the PIP process. Do the bare minimum to keep you afloat and start looking for a new job.
PIP DOES mean they want you out. Do the bare minimum to not get fired on the spot and apply for new jobs. Seriously, for your own good, don’t think that you can stay at the current firm by trying your best and not prioritize on applying to new jobs.

Firms are hiring. Just jump for a 30% increase in pay.
Relax. Plenty of people go on pips and move on to have great careers. I would say honestly assess your situation and see if it can be salvaged. Otherwise just start a new job search and find something better that pays more. It’s a great market and no one has to know you’re on a pip!

Grant Thornton isn’t even the leader of the mid-tier space lol. Use this as a wake up call to work on whatever it is you need to work on and then go do better for yourself and don’t look back.
PIPs as a pretext to fire someone is a such a childish thing to do. PIPs should actually be used to help people improve. I’d much rather be flat out fired than go through some bs PIP. And half the time people put on PIPs (at least at PA firms) aren’t even based on performance issues.

What is if based on then ?

I’ve been on a PIP twice! Made it off twice too. One company I liked so I stuck around and one I left right after. Cry it out, feel the feels, then get off of it! Or find a new job if you hate this job. You got this 😊
Yeah I'm looking for other jobs
Hold up. You work for a company that specializes in performance improvement and got put on a performance improvement plan? Huh. I thought Grant Thornton was the experts in performance and strategy.
Hiring market is SUPER hot right now. Make moves now, just keep in mind maybe not start ups/small companies in case they feel recessionary pressures.
Based on my experience, while a PIP is a sign that they want you to leave, I would still prefer a PIP to being fired right away. That way, I could job search during the PIP period while still getting paid. Think of it as paid interview time. Good luck!
What does PIP stand for?

You should schedule a meeting with your coach and you should schedule a meeting with your partner coach to develop a plan. Questions you should find out the answer to include: Is there a deadline for improvement and what exactly do you need to improve on? Get constant feedback going forward so you know where you stand so you can get ahead of anything if possible. This is what I assume is the proper course of action. Take a deep breath as well!

PIP means they want you out. Start looking at other firms and you can turn this into a firm jump with a raise. I've seen people come back from PIPs, but it's not easy. Just take the hint and move on to a different firm with a better fit. It'll be easier to start fresh than try and dig out of a PIP
Chin up buttercup. Just start dusting your resume off. It will be ok.

What did you do that you got put on a PIP? How long are you on it for?
The way you respond, right there i knew it! :)
